The territorial heads of the Generalitat of Catalonia in Girona of the departments ofEconomy and Finance, Joan Martín; Business and Work, Pau Rich; and Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing and Food, Josep Guix, visited the facilities of the Catalan Cork Institute Foundation (ICSuro) and the Cork Center Laboratory on Friday, May 16, with the aim of learning first-hand about the reality and needs of the cork sector.

The delegation was received by the president of the ICSuro Foundation and AECORK, Joan J. Puig, and by the director of the Foundation, Albert HereuThey were also accompanied by the councilor of Palafrugell City Council and patron of the Foundation, William Genover.

In addition to the visit to the technology center, the day included a preliminary stop at the company's facilities. Francisco Oller SA, located in Cassà de la Selva, specialized in the manufacture of cork stoppers for sparkling wines.

The meeting allowed us to put on the table possible avenues of collaboration between the sector and the administration, as well as to detect strategic points where synergies can be generated that strengthen the positioning and competitiveness of the Catalan cork sector.
