ICSuros joins the membership of the Technical Committee for Standardization CTN 49 on the environmental management of packaging of the UNE and reinforces its role in the environmental standardization of cork stoppers

The Catalan Cork Institute Foundation (ICSuro) has recently joined the membership of the Technical Committee for Standardization CTN 49 of the UNE, dedicated to the environmental management of containers and packaging. This committee works in coordination with the European subcommittee CEN/TC 261/SC 4 “Packaging and Environment”, focused on the development of standards related to the recycling and environmental management of packaging, among which cork stoppers stand out.

This new incorporation will allow ICSuro to actively contribute to the definition of criteria and good practices at a European level to promote the sustainability and circularity of cork stoppers, a key element within the wine and agri-food sector.

In addition to this new responsibility, ICSuro already plays other leading roles in the regulatory field: it is CTN 56/SC 5 secretariat, the committee responsible for the specific standardization of cork; it is the leading entity of the Spanish delegation to the international committee ISO/TC 87 “Cork”, and is also an active member of the CTN 126 of glass bottles.

With this reinforced presence in the field of standardization, ICSuro reaffirms its commitment to the quality, innovation and sustainability of cork products, positioning itself as a key entity in the development of international criteria for more responsible and efficient management of natural resources.
