Institutional visit to Francisco Sagrera, one of the leading companies in natural cork stoppers

The director of the Catalan Cork Institute, Alba Balcells, visited the Francisco Sagrera cork company, a company with more than 180 years of history linked to the production of quality natural cork stoppers.

Since 1840, the Sagrera family has maintained a history marked by its commitment to excellence and the preservation of traditional know-how, consolidating itself as a leading company in the sector. Its activity continues to be closely linked to the wine world, collaborating with wineries that rely on natural cork as a key element to preserve the quality of the wine and reinforce the value of each bottle.

The visit has allowed sharing visions on the challenges and opportunities of the sector, as well as exploring new avenues of collaboration between the Catalan Cork Institute and the company. These meetings contribute to strengthening the links between research, industry and territory, promoting joint initiatives aligned with the objectives of the EP Vision 2028.

In parallel, the relevance of natural cork and its value within the wine sector have also been the subject of media interest recently, highlighting the growing importance of sustainable and naturally-originated materials in preserving the quality and identity of wines.
