In addition, the relevance of the accreditation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/icsuro.com\/en\/laboratory-corkcenter\/presentacio\/\">Cork Center Laboratory<\/a>, belonging to the Institut Catal\u00e0 del Suro Foundation, to carry out these analyses.<\/p>\n<p>The UNE-ISO 10106 standard is a crucial reference in the evaluation of corks, focusing on the global migration of its components in contact with food. Since it is important to maintain up-to-date standards, a revision of the regulations has been undertaken to reflect the latest practices and needs of the cork industry.<br \/>\nThe review of the UNE-ISO 10106 standard has been carried out considering the latest European directives, including Regulation (EU) No. 10\/2011 on plastic materials and objects intended to come into contact with food. Although originally designed for plastic materials, this standard has become a reference framework even though\u00a0<strong>not applicable to corks<\/strong>. In the case of the caps it is convenient to take into account the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.edqm.eu\/en\/d\/164352\">resolution of the Council of Europe on corks and other cork materials and articles intended to come into contact with food products<\/a>\u00a0(version 2 of 05.09.2007).<\/p>\n<p>The expression of global migration results for cork stoppers is in mg\/dm\u00b2 (total contact surface between stopper and liquid in bottle). It should be noted that the Cork Center Laboratory, an integral part of the Institut Catal\u00e0 del Suro Foundation, is accredited to carry out tests according to the UNE-ISO 10106 standard. The accreditation guarantees the quality and reliability of the analyzes carried out by the laboratory.<br \/>\nAccreditation of the Cork Center Laboratory ensures that global migration assays meet international quality standards. Accreditation guarantees the technical competence of the laboratory, the validity of the results obtained and the traceability of the procedures.<\/p>\n<p>The update of the UNE-ISO 10106 standard, pending publication, reflects the continuous commitment to the quality and safety of corks in contact with food.
