The Catalan cork sector has received a visit from representatives of the Algerian Administration in forestry matters: Conservation des Forêts de Wilayas, Center de formation (École Nationale des Forêts), Direction de la gestion du patrimoine forestier, who for 15 days will visit some companies that manufacture corks and institutions in the cork sector organized by Forestry Consortium of Catalonia and the Forest Technology Center of Catalonia.
Last December 15, they visited the headquarters of the Institut Català del Suro in Palafrugell, where its director, Albert Hereu, explained the strategic lines of this body, the ongoing projects and the quality controls that are carried out in the Cork Center laboratory. Also, Guillem Genover vice-president of the Executive Committee of RETECORK he presented the European Network of Cork Territories and the projects carried out in recent years in collaboration with cork municipalities, universities, institutions in the cork field, among others. Then, they visited the Cork Museum from Palafrugell
The reason for this visit is to get to know the Catalan cork sector and to study possible ways of collaboration or implementation of Catalonia's models in Algeria, whether in tourism, R+D+i, forestry, among others.
