Activities of the ICSuro Foundation at the 2021 Cork and Cork Fair

Like every year, the Catalan Institute of Cork Foundation will participate in the Tap and Cork Fair which will take place at Cassà de la Selva the days June 12 and 13. It will be there through a stand in Paseo Vilaret.

The fair has been organized since 2018 by the Town Council of Cassà de la Selva i represents a meeting point for the cork sector, from the forest, through the industry and reaching the final consumer.

You can consult the program of the fair here.

Sample of corked rocks

As part of the fair, the ICSuro Foundation will develop one pilot test of tree skirts with cork in Paseo Vilaret. This is a project to recycle corks whose objective is to give them a second life by collecting them, crushing them and mixing them with glues. This initiative opens the doors to turning waste into raw material for different constructive solutions.

Escape room on the cork

We organize the activity "Upload Rescue”, a family proposal designed to introduce cork as a natural, highly versatile and close product to the population and raise awareness of the interest of Mediterranean forests through gamification as a learning tool.

It can be done in groups respecting all safety measures.

Presentation of the Suropédia

The ICSuro Foundation will be on the Ágora stage of the fair to present the Suropedia, a new informative website with international ambitions that wants to be a live tool, free and available to everyone who has concerns about the world of cork and is looking for a platform to solve them. The presentation will be Saturday June 12 at 11:00am.

Cap collection for recycling

There will be one at the foundation's stand box for the collection and subsequent recycling of natural corks to promote giving them a second life. These caps are crushed and used by the projects of the ICSuro R+D+i department.

Promotion of the peeling course

We collaborate with the Forestry Agricultural School to promote one Cork peeling course which will take place in Cassà de la Selva on June 21, 22 and 23. The aim of the course is to facilitate knowledge about the cork cam and to give the students basic theoretical and practical notions to get started in this technique or to improve the practice of those who already know it. This year the novelty is that it will be possible to practice with new mechanized tools for peeling developed in the project GO Upload.
