ERA architects innovate again with a sustainable accommodation among vineyards in the so-called Penedès PINEA Mobile which has had the collaboration of the Catalan Institute of Cork Foundation in its design.

This unique, self-sufficient prototype runs on solar energy and features innovative fabrics, plant cover and rainwater collection tanks (in addition to other common natural materials such as wood and cork).

As for cork, we can find it in different forms and locations such as on the pavement, which has a cork carpet, lightweight heat-insulating gravels that incorporate corks reused on the roof or projected cork and corks on the furniture (framed in the project caps).

Solar energy

The solar panel can produce 50W and retain them in a battery. This allows guests to charge a couple of smartphones, have a bedside lamp, a ceiling lamp for the dining room and a decorative wall for ambient lighting.

vegetable cover

To insulate the roof, we used sedum vegetation on a special substrate. This creates quality shade so you can sleep late or take a nap despite the summer sun.

Deposit

The tank is made up of a system of connected trays that collect rainwater. It is able to hold 100 liters and feed the plants above by capillarity even with 9 liters/m2 on a summer day. This innovative system is the first time it has been installed throughout the Peninsula.

textile

The openings are made with dyed acrylic fabric manufactured in Catalonia within a production process with great savings in water consumption.

This fabric also has great water repellency without losing its breathable characteristics. In this way, whoever is staying is protected from the sun and the water without ceasing to breathe fresh air. It also has a mosquito net for sleeping under the full moon.

Wood

Certified wood is used in the walls and furniture (handmade).

The Pinea mobile eco-suite is made with certified and Catalan materials to promote local industry.
