The purpose of the South Catalonia International Excellence Campus (CEICS) promoted by the Rovira i Virigili University is to facilitate the incorporation of doctors into non-academic work environments. In this regard, three doctors have been hired in Catalonia who will develop R+D+I projects relevant to the strategy and competitiveness of the organizations they are part of, linked to the areas of specialization: chemistry and energy, nutrition and health, tourism, oenology and, heritage and culture.
As for the Institut Català del Suro, the field of work will be oenology with the project "Selective elimination of unwanted aromatic compounds in a matrix of wine, wood, cardboard or cork using biosorbents" which will be carried out by Dr. Jordi Lladó .
The main objective of this study is based on the transferability of TCA to a maceration liquid and the biosorbent capacity of activated carbon to decontaminate wine, wood, cardboard or corks. And, the later, incorporation of this prevention and decontamination process in the company. The study will be based on continuing the studies started at the Cork Center Laboratory.
