The Catalan Cork Institute continues to advance in the development of new cork applications aligned with the objectives of the PE Vision 2028 strategic plan, which is committed to promoting innovative solutions based on the circular bioeconomy and sustainability.
In this context, the institute has participated in the BIT Congress with the collaboration in the publication of a scientific poster dedicated to the ALCORKE application, an initiative aimed at the revaluation of recycled cork stoppers. The project proposes the transformation of this material into safe and sustainable pavements for urban environments.
This proposal exemplifies the potential of recycled cork as a value-added resource capable of generating new functionalities and contributing to more circular production models. At the same time, it highlights the importance of applied research and knowledge transfer to drive new opportunities within the sector.
Participation in spaces such as the BIT Congress allows us to share experiences, generate synergies with other agents and make innovative initiatives visible that contribute to moving towards a more sustainable and efficient economy in the use of resources.
