The Biodiversity Foundation, Wine in Moderation, the bakery Isabel García and the cork worker Miquel Maskort have been awarded this Friday evening to the XXXII Gla d'Or Awards of theAssociation of Catalan Sugar Entrepreneurs (AECORK). It is the highest recognition given by the Catalan cork sector and which aims to highlight the work of institutions, personalities, entities or initiatives that project the cork sector and its intrinsic values everywhere.
Joan J. Puig, president of AECORK, recalls that "over the years we have had the honor of awarding people or institutions in the field of gastronomy, viticulture or international organizations very relevant in environmental and sustainability issues, as well as administrations that have showed its support to the cork industry to be an example of sustainability, innovation and employment. We would like to highlight and thank all of them for being today and always being great ambassadors of cork and of the attributes of sustainability, excellence or territory that we corkers claim every day with the conviction that we are an exemplary industry and an essential ally for the sectors forestry or oenological".
The XXXII Gla d'Or Awards were presented at the Hotel Mas de Torrent (Baix Empordà) in a gala event that brought together the main exponents of the cork, forestry and business sectors to claim Catalan cork as natural product of proximity and quality and its sustainable, social or economic implications.
The awardees
- Biodiversity Foundation. For its fight to repair the loss of biodiversity, its commitment to nature-based solutions and support for transformative projects, also in the cork sector, to have a more prosperous and sustainable future.
- Wine in Moderation. For its commitment to moderate and responsible wine consumption and to lead the commitment to a healthy wine culture. Values shared by the cork sector.
- Isabel García He peels the brioche bread in the shape of a cork that he presented at the Spanish Baking Championship. His sensitivity and attention to the wine of La Rioja is valued with special attention to the cork and his creativity to execute this piece so complex
- Miquel Maskort. For almost 50 years of professional career dedicated to the Catalan cork sector, becoming a fundamental pillar of the Association of Cork Entrepreneurs of Catalonia (AECORK) as well as a great connoisseur of this subject who has always been available to everyone for offer your help.
