The project has been submitted FUTURECORK at the cork dissemination technical days of the biennial tour Fico of San Vicente de Alcántara (Badajoz). The conference, in charge of Dr Patricia Young from the Fundació Institut Català del Suro, which coordinates the project, has been taught to a specialized audience that includes research, industrial or forestry centers.
In the presentation, the main lines of action of the project have been set out transform the national cork sector and which happen to increase the resilience of cork forests to climate change and fires, combat the depopulation of rural areas and encourage entrepreneurship with a gender perspective, increase the added value of the cork chain and communicate ecological value, economic and social of the cork sector.
Consortium meeting
Coinciding with Ficor, the first face-to-face coordination meeting of the project consortium was also held, made up of the Institut Català del Suro foundation, the Consorci Forestal de Catalunya, the State Agency Consell Superior d'Investigacions Científicas (ICIFOR, INIA- CSIC), the University of Cádiz, the Center for Scientific and Technological Research of Extremadura (CICYTEX) and the Confederation of Forestry Organizations of Spain (COSE). During the meeting, the current status of the project was updated and future lines of work were marked.
FUTURECORK has the support of Biodiversity Foundation from Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) in the framework of Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
