Present in a successful edition of Enomaq

The Institut Català del Suro Foundation (ICSuro) participated in the last edition ofEnomach, the International Exhibition of Machinery, Techniques and Equipment for wineries and bottling for the wine, oil and beer sectors that took place from February 14 to 17 in Zaragoza fair.

The foundation is part of the event's organizing committee and was present at the inauguration represented by its president, Joan J. Puig, who participated in the event together with representatives of the government of Aragon and the organization of the event and who signed the book of honor of Feria Zaragoza.

The cork at the technical conferences

The Institut Català del Suro has participated in the program of presentations on the third day of the fair's technical days together with the Spanish Packaging and Packaging Technology Platform (PACKNET) i The Wine Week addressing the challenges of sustainability and new consumption paradigms.

The ICSuro presentation was given by the director, Albert Hereu, which he talked about sustainability and shared value for wineries. In his speech he explained the need for wineries to incorporate the generation of value for society into their sustainability strategy. In this line, he invited the attendees to incorporate in their speech the positive environmental or social resources that the cork sector offers them, such as its negative carbon footprint or the benefits that derive from the management of corks such as the fixation of employment in rural areas or the sustainable management of cork oak forests.

Coinciding with Enomaq 2023, a meeting of the UNE technical subcommittee for cork standardization, of which ICSuro holds the secretariat. The agenda included issues such as facilitating the calculation of the carbon footprint of corks, exploring the development of a test standard to simplify the measurement of the oxygen permeability of corks and the link with the technical committee for the standardization of glass containers.
