The Council of Cassà de la Selva and the Institut Català del Suro Foundation have signed a collaboration agreement for the promotion and revitalization of cork and the cork sector. The City Council is also part of the foundation's board of trustees.

The Mayor of Cassà de la Selva, Mr. Robert Mundet and the president of ICSuro, Mr. Joan Puig, they signed an agreement on January 24, 2020 that establishes the framework for collaboration between both institutions.
The municipality of Cassà includes one of the most important cork landscapes in Catalonia, Les Gavarres, and has hosted a cork-tape industry for many years that is still present today. These features give Cassà an identity that is closely linked to the world of cork.
